In china，I’ve been working with job of computer teaching for many years. This time，I would like to continue some research projects related with my previous professional backgroud in another country. My initial planned project is “Application of Open Source Operating System in Embedded System”.
At present，with the quick development of embedded technique，many intelligent electronic products pour into market，Open Source Operating System，as a branch of embedded technique，has the prosperous developing expectation. The research on open source operating system in china is still in the early stage. On the contrary，such research has been promoted to mature stage in some western countrys，and many developed designs are available. In a word，those countrys have huge edge in this field.
The reason why I choose Norway as my destination to study abroad is listed as follows. Firstly，Norway is a developed country in Europe，it’s higher education is prestigious. Norway is also famous for his information technology. Secondly，as is well-known to all，Norway is one of the countries in the world that support open source software greatly. It was reported that the open source software is comparatively popular in the second biggest city-Bergen.
During the progress of application in bilateral programme，I select xxxUniversity . Since I’ve been teaching courses related with embedded technique for three years，and the faculty of computer science and media technology in this college has abundent teaching experience in this field，especially its experience in design of robots is fruitful. It’s very clear that the faculty is congenial to my interest. Yet till now，there is no relationship between the college where I am working and colleges in Norway. If my application can be approved，I hope that I will play as a poineer to establish new relationship and furthermore expand communication between two colleges.
In xxx University I will be a visiting scholar and the whole time span is ten months. My initial study plan during this period is schedueled as bellow. In the first place，I will make myself familiar with teaching ways and style in xxx University as soon as possible once I arrive. In the second place，I will follow advices andarrangement from xxx University，and then collaborate with Norwegian researchers to undertake a scientific project or design a feasible small embedded system that can be used in some real scenes.
In the forseeable future，after returning to my country，I will continue to serve my previous college，share my precious experiences with my colleages，and try my best to consolidate sientific cooperation between two colleges.

Because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one ALWAYS correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. Self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. It's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. Socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. Unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. Ideologies and idealism often exaggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the eXPense of the truth. This process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. To an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals. Human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good due to individual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that a decidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one can also understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for an honest, moral society. Both honesty and morality require that we base our opinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is TRUE — rather than vice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the way all ideologies would have us believe.

My name is Dongqi Yang from china, I am horror to be here today and I am very happy to receive this award. As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggest challenge is English, I remembered that when I come here first time, there is a party in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and they laughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughed except you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyone laugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about that and asked me “do you understand?”， and I answered “no”， “So why do you laugh?” ”because I do not want to be embarrassed”!
But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese. When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”
But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot. Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but I appreciate this award and I will try my best in future. I think I got 10 seconds left, I want to thank to Les and Vera who is my lovely home stay, thanks to Liz collar who is international student coordinator, I strongly want to thank to my mother, because she support me and gave me the opportunity to come to Australia. And he picked up the phone and I talked to him and I asked him if he'd give me some spare parts for something I was building called a frequency counter. And he did, but in addition to that he gave me something way more important.

What we've done is we bought this land right here. We try to buy the apartments at the corner but they are not for sale, so we couldn't buy those. And we bought everything else. And the campus we like to build there is one building holds 12,000 people. And it is pretty amazing building. Let me show it to you. It's a little like a spaceship landed, there it is, and it's got this gorgeous courtyard in the middle, but a lot more. So let's take a close look at it. It's a circle.

It's curved all the way around. If you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There is not a straight piece of glass in this building. It's all curved. We've used our experience making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use. We can make it curve all the way around the building. And you can see what it look like. It is pretty cool.

Again, today, about 20% of the space is landscaping, several big asphalt parking lots. So 20% of this is landscape, we want to completely change this. And we want to make 80% of landscape, and the way we're gonna do this is we're gonna put most of the parking underground. So we can have 80% of landscape, and you can see what we've in mind. I mean there is nothing like this in the property now. It's pretty bad. Today there are 3700 trees on the property we'd like to just almost double that. We've hired one of the senior arborists from Stanford actually who is very good with indigenous trees around this area. So we'd like to plant a lot of trees including some apricot orchards. Again you can see what it might be like. This is some of the infrastructure. The main building, we have parking underneath the main building.

That's not enough unfortunately. We have a parking structure here as well. The building's four stories high as is the parking structure. There's nothing high here at all. We want the whole place human scale. It's actually about the same as we have in Cupertino right now.. An energy center. We deal with - people using, sitting at computers all day writing software. And if the power goes out on the grid we get to send everybody home. So we have to have backup power to power the place in the event brownouts and stuff. And I think what we're gonna end up doing is making the energy center our primary source of power. Because we can generate power with Natural Gas and other ways that can be cleaner and cheaper and use the grid as our backup.

We've got an auditorium because we put on presentations. Much like we did yesterday but we have to go to San Francisco to do them. Fitness center and some R&D facilities, these are just things that where we do testing and we need some buildings to test in and there's hardly any people in them. So this is roughly the kind of thing we're thinking about. We think about 12,000 people, I put 13,000 on the slides, just because we may make a little luckier than 12,000. We're up roughly 40% in people V.S. What the site has been used for already and we're increasing space to 3.1 million square feet. So 20% increase in space. The landscaping though increases by 350%, which is nice, trees by 60%. The surface parking goes down by 90%. And so I think the overall feeling of the place is gonna be zillion times better than it is now with all the asphalt. And the building footprint actually goes down by 30%. So, we wanna take the space and in many cases making it smaller. We're putting more of desirable things on the space and that's what we like to do. So just wanna give you a look at it. This is a cafe. We have cafe as our facilities. And this cafe will, you know, feed the better part of the 3,000 people sitting. That's what you need when you 12,000 people in the campus. So that's what we're looking at. I'd love to answer your questions if you have any.
